Studio: Steal the Plane 偷飞机去 Series: “Occupation”
Material: High-temperature porcelain, high-temperature glaze, leather
Dimensions: Height 19cm, diameter 21cm, foot 13cm The dragon and the phoenix are the supreme symbols of Chinese imperial iconography. The dragon embodies masculine power and heavenly authority. The phoenix represents feminine grace and renewal. Together they signify cosmic harmony, the balance on which all order depends.
Here they appear on a functional ice bucket, their solemnity interrupted by the Occupation mark. Where the original motifs command reverence, Tian Wei introduces something closer to affection: an acknowledgment that these symbols, however grand, belong to the living present as much as to the imperial past.
Hand-thrown porcelain body with applied Qinghua decoration and leather detailing. Equally at home on a dinner table, a bar, or a bookshelf.
