Studio: Steal the Plane 偷飞机去 Series: “Occupation”

Material: Porcelain, underglaze Qinghua cobalt, lead-free overglaze transfer

Firing: High-temperature reduction kiln, low-temperature overglaze firing

Dimensions: Length 30cm, width 21cm, height 3.6cm An elongated oval platter, shaped to present a whole fish. In Chinese dining, a whole fish served at the table carries the meaning of abundance and completeness. The word for fish (鱼, yú) is a homophone for surplus (余, yú). To end a meal with fish is to say: there is more than enough. There will always be more than enough.

The platter's generous proportions make it the most visually dramatic piece in the tableware collection when laid flat. The Wutong landscape stretches across the full length of the oval, and the Occupation mark moves across it like a weather front crossing a valley.

Equally suited to its traditional purpose or as a serving platter for any cuisine. Its shape and scale make it a natural display piece when not in use.
